Alloy steel is steel alloyed with various elements in total amounts between 1 and 50% by weight to improve its mechanical properties including wear resistance, toughness, hardness and strength. It is subdivided into two groups namely low alloy steel and high alloy steel. The very low-alloy steels within this group are generally high strength structural steels with a total alloy content of up to 2%. AISI 6150 alloy steel is heat treatable alloy known for its toughness and high strength in the heat treated condition.
